Kazakhstan and Korea Expand Cooperation in Architectural and Construction Education and the Creative Industries

On 15 September 2026, in Seoul, as part of the state visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Republic of Korea, KazGASA with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, signed memoranda of understanding with Hanbat National University, Konkuk University, and Korean Webtoons Academy.

The exchange of signed documents took place as part of the First Central Asia-Republic of Korea Summit. KazGASA was represented at the events of the state visit by its Rector, PhD Bakhtiyar Sabdenaliev.

The agreements provide for the development of cooperation with Hanbat National University in engineering, architecture, and construction education. The partnership with Konkuk University will focus on academic mobility programmes, joint training of specialists, and the exchange of educational expertise. Cooperation with Korean Webtoons Academy will cover digital art, visual content creation, and the training of professionals for the creative industries.

The agreements create opportunities to launch joint educational programmes, promote academic mobility for students and faculty, implement research projects, organise professional internships, and introduce advanced educational practices. The cooperation encompasses both KazGASA’s core areas-architecture, construction, engineering education, and design-and the emerging fields of the digital and creative industries.

In total, more than 40 intergovernmental, interinstitutional, and interuniversity documents were signed through the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the state visit. The agreements are aimed at advancing cooperation in science, higher education, artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, and the training of highly qualified professionals.

Expanding direct ties between Kazakh and Korean educational institutions will contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, improving the quality of professional training, and creating new international opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers.
